This document sets out the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and the Patients Association's prescription for outpatient care in response to the diagnosis articulated by Lord Ara Darzi in his 2024 independent investigation into the state of the NHS in England. The Darzi Review recognised the significant increase in waiting times for planned procedures, resulting in a potentially 'worse prognosis, more complex interventions, more powerful medications and longer recovery times'

articipants in clinical trials should be pro-actively offered the results of trials in which they have participated. This should be done in a way that is accessible and understandable for all participants. People who have taken part in research have a right to know the results of the studies in which they have taken part and should be given the option of receiving these results. Most trial participants want to receive the overall results. Key reasons for sharing results include respecting participants' contributions, enhancing their understanding of research benefits, increasing transparency, and potentially improving recruitment and retention.

The engagement for Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness 'Adult Autism Pathways' project ran from February 2024 until May 2024, and a total of 22 people shared their experiences and feedback with us for this project. Their experiences were gathered through in-depth case studies, with 18 experiences collected in a case study format, one shared by an individual by email, and the other three collected in a focus group setting. The aim of this project was to discover what is working well with the assessment process, what support is available during and after the process, and to highlight areas that may need improving.
